About us

Hello — we're the two people behind this site

We're a British couple who traded the commute and the drizzle for a life on the Spanish coast. SpainHolidayFun started with a problem we kept watching play out: friends and family would fly out to visit, and have no idea what was actually happening while they were here.

Because the good stuff — the fiesta two towns over, the open-air concert by the castle, the night the whole beach lights bonfires for San Juan — almost never makes it onto the websites holidaymakers read. It's tucked away on Spanish-language town-hall pages, in a PDF, behind a Facebook event, written for locals who already know. Visitors walk straight past it.

So we started writing it down. Region by region, week by week, in plain English, the way we'd tell a friend over a beer: what's on, when, how to get there, and whether it's worth shaping your trip around.

What this site is (and isn't)

Most travel sites tell you what's there — the beaches, the old town, the ten best paellas. We do the other thing: what's on. The living, dated, happening-this-week side of Spain that turns a nice holiday into one you actually remember.

We cover festivals and fiestas, food and farmers' markets, concerts and open-air cinema, pilgrimages, fireworks, craft fairs and the local oddities you'd never stumble on by yourself — all organised by region so you can see what's near where you're staying.

How we work

We keep it simple. We research every event against its official source and link straight to it, so you can always check the details yourself. And because we actually live here, we write it the way we'd explain it to a friend — in plain English, for visitors rather than locals.

How we keep it free

Some links on the site — car hire, tours, places to stay — are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and that's what keeps SpainHolidayFun free to read. We only ever point you towards things we'd happily use ourselves. The full story is on our affiliate disclosure page.
