What's on in Ibiza
Ibiza is far more than the clubs it's famous for. Beyond the superclubs of Sant Antoni and Platja d'en Bossa lies a UNESCO-listed old town in Ibiza city, the fortified walls of Dalt Vila above the harbour, almond groves and white inland villages, and a string of quiet northern coves around Sant Joan and Santa Eulària that feel a world away from the party strip. The island has kept a strong bohemian, back-to-the-land streak since the 1960s, and that older, gentler Ibiza is easy to find if you look for it.
Away from the dance floors, the cultural calendar is its own thing. The hippy markets — Las Dalias and Punta Arabí — are the long-running institutions, and the inland villages keep their own traditions alive: look for the Santa Gertrudis folk festival, the herbal-liqueur (hierbas ibicencas) workshops, open-air summer cinema and family circus, and the village patron-saint fiestas that fill the plaças through the warm months. Of course the island's headline DJ residencies and opening parties run all summer too, if that's what you're here for.
Ibiza (IBZ) airport, just outside the city, takes flights from across the UK and Ireland. Buses and taxis connect the main resorts, but a hire car genuinely changes the island — it's how you reach the northern coves, the inland village markets and the sunset spots at Cala d'Hort and beyond, away from the crowds.
Whether you're in a Sant Antoni apartment, a boutique hotel in the old town or a finca up in the hills, this is your guide to what's actually on while you're here — the markets, the village fiestas and the music worth planning around.
