Virgen del Carmen 2026 — Benidorm
Benidorm's old fishing quarter honours its patron of the sea with a maritime procession and seafront concerts.
Behind the high-rises and the famous beaches, Benidorm still keeps the soul of a fishing village, and nowhere is that clearer than during the Virgen del Carmen festivities in mid-July. The image of the patron saint is carried through the old town and down to the port, then out across the bay on a procession of boats, before the evening turns to open-air concerts and a fireworks finale over the water.
What to expect. A few days of celebration centred on 16 July — religious processions and sea-blessings by day, music and fireworks by night. The atmospheric old town (Casco Antiguo), between Levante and Poniente beaches, is the place to be.
Practical bit. Benidorm is well connected by tram and bus along the Costa Blanca, but the surrounding hill towns — Guadalest, Altea, Polop — make rewarding day-trips around the fiesta, and they're far easier to reach with a hire car than on public transport.
