Patron Saint Fiestas in Honour of the Virgen del Remedio
San Fulgencio's biggest annual fiesta, honouring the town's patron the Virgen del Remedio, peaking around 8 October. Expect a giant communal paella and DJ afternoons at the opening, a floral offering, a colourful float parade, the patron-saint mass and evening procession, plus a grand closing fireworks display, all easy to enjoy as a visitor.
San Fulgencio gives its patron a proper send-off, and the good news for visitors is that most of it spills out into the street for free. Things open with a chupinazo from the Plaza de la Constitución, a wallop of a mascletá, then a giant communal paella with beer and soft drinks for everyone who turns up. Stick around for the DJ tardeo sessions, when the afternoon party gets going around four, and the omelette and paella cook-offs that keep the town busy.
The 8th of October is the day that matters. There's a midday mass, then an evening procession through the centre as the light fades, finished off with fireworks. The float parade rolls through the night before, and a floral offering to the Virgen happens earlier in the week. You don't need any Spanish to enjoy it — just show up.
