Playas de Aridane Open-Water Swim (VI edition)
An open-water swimming spectacle off the black-sand beach of Puerto Naos, with 4.6 km and 2 km routes through a protected marine reserve and a strong sustainability focus. The 2026 edition ran on 13 June; spectators watch free from the shore, and the next edition is expected in June 2027.
The black sand at Puerto Naos throws the whole thing into sharp relief: a string of swimmers strung out across clear Atlantic water, kayaks and rescue boats shadowing them the length of the course. The long route runs 4.6km, tracing the coast from El Remo round to Puerto Naos, with a shorter 2km option and a gentle 400m "Abrazos de Agua" splash that brings in kids and first-timers. It all sits inside a protected marine reserve, and the organisers are genuinely careful about leaving it as they found it.
You don't need a wetsuit to enjoy this one. Watching is free, and the beach is a fine spot to sit with a coffee and follow the field as it inches along the shoreline. Held each June, with the next edition expected in summer 2027.
