What's on in Arrecife

Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote, a real working port city rather than a holiday resort, where the island's everyday life happens. It's worth more time than it usually gets: the Charco de San Ginés, a tidal lagoon ringed with old fishermen's houses and bars, sits right in the centre, and the seafront takes in two small castles and the artist César Manrique's influence all over town. The town beach, El Reducto, is a fine stretch of sand within walking distance.
