What's on in Callosa d'en Sarrià
Callosa d'en Sarrià is an inland town in the hills behind Benidorm and Altea, surrounded by terraces of medlars — the nispero fruit it's famous for growing. Just outside town are the Fonts de l'Algar, a popular run of waterfalls and bathing pools in a river gorge, which draw day-trippers up from the coast in summer. The town itself is a working agricultural place, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra de Bernia, and feels far removed from the resort strip below.
The town's big event is its Moors and Christians festival, with the colourful parades and mock battles typical of this part of Valencia. The calendar also makes room for lighter nights, like a Miki Dkai stand-up comedy show and a La Oreja de Van Gogh tribute concert. Here's what's on while you're here.
