Estepona has quietly become one of the Costa del Sol's most likeable towns. The old quarter
has been replanted and repainted into a run of flower-hung streets — the "Garden of the
Costa del Sol" tag is earned — and a long promenade links the marina to a string of family
beaches. It is calmer and more Spanish than the resorts up the coast towards Marbella, with
real town life behind the seafront. Summer brings the Feria y Fiestas Mayores in early July,
a week of horses, flamenco dresses and casetas, alongside the Virgen del Carmen sea
