What's on in Gualchos
Gualchos is a small inland village on Granada's Costa Tropical, with its real holiday life down at Castell de Ferro, the fishing-and-beach settlement on the coast below. It's an unfussy stretch of the coast — a grey-pebble beach, a handful of chiringuitos and the mountains pressing close — that sees far more Spanish than foreign visitors.
The summer high point is the Virgen del Carmen fiesta at Castell de Ferro, when the patron of fishermen is carried out to sea in a boat procession, and a few weeks earlier the St John's Eve bonfires bring everyone down onto the beach after dark. Here's what's on while you're here.
