What's on in Llançà

Llançà sits near the top of the Costa Brava, close to the French border under the rugged Cap de Creus headland. It comes in two parts: the older village set back from the water, and the port down on the bay, where small boats shelter and the tramuntana wind blows hard off the mountains. The coast here is rocky and indented, with little coves between the headlands and the Pyrenees rising behind.

Its summer is musical and traditional. The Nits de Tramuntana festival and the Mediterranean Guitar Festival, with Friday concerts in the church of Sant Vicenç, run through the season, the Festa de la Verge del Carme carries a procession of boats out to sea, and the Festa Major d'Estiu marks the town's big summer celebration. Here's what's on while you're here.
