What's on in Manilva

Manilva sits at the western edge of the Costa del Sol near the Gibraltar end, an old hilltop village above the coast and the beach settlement of San Luis de Sabinillas below. It's still surrounded by its own vineyards — the muscatel grown here has been famous since Roman times — and the mood is quieter and more Spanish than the resorts further east.

Midsummer brings the Noche de San Juan to Sabinillas beach, with bonfires and a midnight dip, while September's Grape Harvest Festival celebrates the vendimia with grape-treading and the year's new wine. Here's what's on while you're here.
