What's on in Mojácar
Mojácar comes in two halves: Mojácar Pueblo, a cluster of white cube-houses stacked on a
hill a couple of kilometres inland, and Mojácar Playa, the long beach strip below. The old
village is the draw — narrow stepped lanes, a Moorish-era layout and wide views over the
Almería coast and the dry sierras behind — while the seafront has the bars, beaches and
chiringuitos. It is a slower, more individual base than the big costas, with a long-standing
artistic streak. The town's big date is its Moros y Cristianos festival in June, alongside
the usual run of summer beach fiestas. Here's what's on while you're in town.
