What's on in Motril

Motril is the main town of Granada's Costa Tropical, an inland working town with its own port and beaches a short way south. The subtropical climate here once made it sugar-cane country — it was nicknamed "little Cuba" — and you'll still find the mills and the mango and avocado groves that have taken their place. It's a genuine Andalusian town getting on with its own life rather than a holiday resort.

The culture on offer leans literary and artistic: an open-air painting contest, a National Geographic photo exhibition under the title 'Colours of the World', and Calderón's classic 'Life is a Dream' staged at the Teatro Calderón. Here's what's on while you're here.
