What's on in Otívar

Otívar is a small mountain village above the Costa Tropical, set among terraced slopes of subtropical fruit on the winding road up from Almuñécar into the Sierra de la Almijara. It's a quiet, inland farming place — cherimoya, avocado and loquat country — a world away from the beaches below, with cool air, big views and a slow pace.

The local loquat takes its turn in the spotlight on the Day of the Loquat, when the village celebrates its náspero harvest, while in summer the Granada provincial open-water swimming circuit passes through the area. Here's what's on while you're here.
