What's on in Roquetas de Mar

Roquetas de Mar is Almería's main resort, a flat, sunny stretch of long sandy beach and apartment blocks on the Mediterranean's driest, warmest corner, popular with Spanish holidaymakers and Northern-European winter visitors. Behind the modern front there's an old fishing core, a lighthouse and salt pans that draw flamingos, so it isn't all promenade and parasols.

The summer fiestas of Santa Ana fill the town with processions and music, and the July Virgen del Carmen celebration carries the fishermen's patron out to sea in a boat procession. Here's what's on while you're here.
