What's on in Salou
Salou is the busy heart of the Costa Daurada, a family resort of long golden beaches, a palm-lined seafront promenade and the PortAventura theme park just up the road. It's an unashamedly holiday-focused town, but it has older roots too — Roman remains around Barenys, and a fishing past that the modern resort has long since outgrown.
Beyond the beach, the calendar has some unusual draws. A total solar eclipse passes over Salou, the Catalan music festival Festiuet brings live sets, and there are guided heritage walks taking in the town's Modernist architecture and its Roman sites at Kallipolis and the Vila Romana de Barenys. Here's what's on while you're here.
