What's on in San Bartolomé

San Bartolomé sits in the middle of Lanzarote, on the flat farmland between the airport and the wine country of La Geria. It's one of the island's oldest inland towns, away from the coastal resorts, with a real agricultural backbone — onions, sweet potatoes and vines grown in the black volcanic soil.

The town's big celebration is the patron saint fiesta of San Bartolomé in late August, with processions and street parties. Food gets its own moment at the Feria de la Tapa, when bars compete over their best small plates, and the agricultural and crafts market keeps the farming traditions in view.
