What's on in Sant Carles de la Ràpita

Sant Carles de la Ràpita is a fishing town at the southern tip of Catalonia, set on a sheltered bay where the Ebro Delta meets the sea. The wide grid of streets dates from an 18th-century royal plan that was never finished, and the harbour is still very much a working one — its prawns and mussels are famous, and the delta's rice paddies and birdlife spread out to the north.

The sea runs through its fiestas. The Festes del Carme and Sant Cristòfol bring the maritime patron festival, the Festa del Mar celebrates the town's seafaring life, and there are Saint John's Eve bonfires on Garbí beach at midsummer. Here's what's on while you're here.
