Sant Lluís is a tidy little town in the south-east of Menorca, laid out in straight white streets — unusually, it was founded by the French during their brief 18th-century rule, which is where its name comes from. An old windmill stands at its heart, and the municipality runs down to small coastal resorts and coves like Punta Prima and Binibèquer. It's quiet and residential, a real Menorcan town away from the bigger crowds.
Its big moment is the Festes de Sant Lluís, the patron saint festival with its horses and traditional jaleo. The summer also brings the Molí night market by the old windmill, a food market down at Punta Prima, and a concert from Menorcan singer Cris Juanico. Here's what's on while you're here.
