What's on in Tazacorte

Tazacorte sits on the warm, sunny west coast of La Palma, split between the old villa up among the banana terraces and the Puerto down at sea level, where the island's biggest fishing harbour and a black-sand beach face the Atlantic. It claims some of the best weather on the island and was where the Spanish first landed in 1492. Bananas are everywhere — Tazacorte reckons itself their Canary capital — and the seafront has a relaxed, end-of-the-road feel.

The San Miguel patronal festival is the highlight, complete with its curious Dance of the Caballos Fufos, while the Tazacorte Summer Fest and the Gastro Culfest fill the warmer months with music and local food. Here's what's on while you're here.
