This small town behind Albir has been running its own film festival since 1989, and nearly four decades on it still pulls Spanish cinema names down to the coast each July. It qualifies for the Goya Awards, so the short films screened here are taken seriously, but the mood stays relaxed and summery rather than red-carpet stiff. Screenings and galas spread across several venues over nine days.
The headline prize is the Faro de Plata, the Silver Lighthouse, a nod to the much-loved Albir lighthouse just up the road. In 2026 it goes to actor Miguel Rellán at the 4 July gala, with Vanessa Romero on board as honorary ambassador. If you fancy an evening of Spanish films with the locals, it's an easy, low-key night out.
