FILMSCUNIT - Open-Air Short Film Festival (3rd edition)
A free open-air short-film festival ('cinema a la fresca') under the summer night sky in the town square, screening finalist works by young regional filmmakers. A relaxed, atmospheric evening over two nights; some shorts may be in Catalan/Spanish.
Pull up a chair in Plaça Jaume Vidal after dark and watch short films projected against the warm summer night, the sort of low-key evening Cunit does well. This is local talent on show: finalist shorts made by young filmmakers from across the region, screened over two nights with the screen flickering away while the square buzzes quietly around you.
Things kick off late, from around 10pm, which suits the heat and the holiday pace. It's free, unfussy and genuinely homegrown rather than a glossy festival circus. A few of the films run in Catalan or Spanish, so you may miss the odd line of dialogue, but the visuals carry plenty on their own. Bring something to sit on, and don't expect it to wrap up early.
