MVP Beach Volleyball Tournament

For one weekend in June, the stretch of sand between Carrer 11 and Carrer 9 turns into a proper little arena. The MVP Volei Platja club marks out courts on the beach and runs matches from Friday morning right through to Sunday evening, with players diving about in the heat and the umpire's whistle cutting across the usual beach noise.

You don't need a ticket or a word of Spanish to enjoy it. Wander over, find a patch of sand or a spot at one of the nearby beach bars, and watch a few rallies with a cold drink. It's organised by the town hall and the local club, so it has a friendly, community feel rather than anything slick or corporate. Bring sun cream and stay as long as the games hold your attention.
