Torre del Cante Flamenco Festival
A landmark open-air flamenco night with leading cante artists including Antonio Reyes and María Terremoto, staged at the Finca El Portón. One of the Costa del Sol's most respected flamenco gatherings, and a memorable warm summer-evening experience.
This is cante country at its most serious: an evening built around the raw, unaccompanied voice rather than the swirl of skirts most visitors picture when they hear "flamenco". Now in its 52nd edition, Torre del Cante brings names that fill proper theatres back home in Spain. Antonio Reyes and María Terremoto headline a line-up that also makes room for newer voices like Raquel Salas, who came up through the local cante competition.
The setting helps. Finca El Portón is a rustic spot on the edge of Alhaurín de la Torre, and the doors open at nine once the heat has dropped off the day. It kicks off the town's Estivalh summer season, so expect a knowledgeable Andalusian crowd who know exactly when to call out. Tickets go through Mientrada and tend to sell early, so sort yours before you turn up.
