Guguy Trail Entrecorrales Tasartico (Mountain Trail Race)
An annual mountain trail race over historic shepherd paths and stone corrals around Tasartico, with a tough 25km route (1,914m climb) and an 11km route (942m climb). The 2026 sixth edition drew a record 159 runners; the next edition is expected around June 2027.
Tasartico sits at the wild south-western edge of Gran Canaria, where the road runs out and the mountains take over. Each summer the village hosts a trail race along the old shepherd paths that thread up through the ravines, past the dry-stone corrals that give the route its name. There are two distances: a brutal 25km with nearly 2,000m of climbing, and a still-serious 11km. Both start early, around dawn, and the heat builds fast as the morning wears on, which is part of the challenge out here.
You don't have to run to enjoy it. The atmosphere down in the village is relaxed and properly local, and the scenery — barrancos, terraced slopes, the odd glimpse of sea — is the real draw. The 2026 sixth edition pulled a record 159 runners; the next one is expected around June 2027.
