Music & Heritage Cycle: 'De acá y de allá' Saxophone Quartet
An open-air evening concert by the Arundo saxophone quartet in the atmospheric square beside Sant Jordi's historic church, part of the village's third Music & Heritage series. Free to attend, with no language needed to enjoy the music.
Four saxophones, an old whitewashed church for a backdrop, and a warm June night on Ibiza's quieter southern side. The Arundo quartet plays under the portico of Sant Jordi's church, the kind of setting where the stone holds the sound and you can hear the players breathe between phrases. The programme, "De acá y de allá", roughly "from here and there", leans into music gathered from different traditions, so expect the saxophone pushed well beyond jazz into something more wide-ranging.
It starts at nine in the evening, once the heat has eased off, and it costs nothing to turn up. No Spanish required: this is one of those local culture nights where the music does all the talking. Bring a bottle of water and arrive a little early if you want a decent spot in the square.
