Wine Run La Geria
A trail race billed as one of a kind, run through the volcanic vineyard landscape of La Geria with long and short distances plus a kids' race. It combines sport, nature and local wine culture and supports the Save La Geria conservation project. Most recent edition was June 2026; expect the next around June 2027 with online registration.
Running through La Geria is unlike any other race you'll do on the islands. The course threads between the vines, each one sunk in its own little crater of black volcanic gravel and shielded by a low stone wall, so you're picking your way across a landscape that looks half-farmed, half-lunar. There's a long route and a shorter one, plus a kids' race, and a couple of camels usually turn out along the way as a nod to how the wine was once worked here.
Afterwards the parallel wine festival is where most people end up: island bodegas pouring tastings, food from local producers, music, and a fair bit of standing about in the sun comparing times. Entry to the run isn't free, and money goes towards the Save La Geria conservation effort. It tends to land in June each year, with online registration opening ahead of the next edition.
