Traditional Mallorcan Folk Dance Show
An open-air showcase of authentic Balearic ball de bot folk dance performed by Pollença's traditional dance school in a village square. A free, easy-to-watch slice of local culture; the 2026 date has passed but it returns each June.
Ball de bot is the old country dancing of Mallorca, and Pollença's own dance school, the Escola de Ball de Pagès, brings it out into Plaça Ca les Monnares on a June evening. Expect couples in traditional dress, the women's full skirts swinging as they turn, the steps quick and the footwork close. It's the kind of folk dancing that has been handed down here for generations, performed by people who grew up with it rather than learned it for a stage.
This is a low-key village affair rather than a polished production, which is rather the point. You can wander up, find a spot on the edge of the square and watch for free. Come a little before the early-evening start if you want somewhere to sit.
