Verge del Carme 2026 — Mallorca
Mallorca's ports carry their patron of the sea out across the water in mid-July boat processions.
Like the rest of the Spanish coast, Mallorca's fishing ports honour the Verge del Carme — patron of sailors — around 16 July. In harbours such as Port d'Alcúdia, Port d'Andratx and Port de Pollença, her image is carried down to the quay and taken out across the bay on a flotilla of decorated boats, with the day given over to sea-blessings, music and fireworks once dusk falls.
What to expect. Quietly moving maritime processions in the early evening, each port choosing its own night around the saint's day. These are local celebrations, so they keep a village feel even in the busier resorts. Confirm dates with the relevant town hall.
Practical bit. The ports that mark the Verge del Carme are scattered right around the island's coast. A hire car lets you reach whichever harbour suits your stay for the evening — and makes the coastal drives between Andratx, Pollença and Alcúdia part of the trip.
