La Asomada is a tiny hamlet above La Guancha, on Tenerife's quieter northern side, and for a few days each spring it throws a proper village party. This is the unpolished kind: free churros handed out after a local book launch on the opening night, foam parties and bouncy castles for the kids, and grown-ups making fools of themselves in paired obstacle races. Music carries the weekend, with afternoon orchestras like Kimbara and the Arguayo Band, a DJ for the tardeo, and a closing night of fireworks, Latin swing and, yes, a mechanical bull.
You'll also catch big-headed cabezudos parading behind a brass band and a sortija bike race through the plaza. Almost no tourists make it up here, so the welcome feels genuine. Timing usually lands around late April or early May; check before you set off.
