What's on in Alcala de Xivert
Alcalà de Xivert is an inland town on the Costa del Azahar, set back from its coastal resort of Alcossebre and watched over by the ruined Templar castle of Xivert up in the Serra d'Irta. The town has a striking baroque church with one of the tallest bell towers in the region, while the coast nearby keeps a low-rise, family feel with quiet coves along the protected Irta range. Inland it's farmland, almonds and walking country.
It's a place for the outdoors: free guided visits climb to Xivert Castle and the Santa Lucía hermitage, and the dark skies above the Torre Ebri make a fine spot for Perseid meteor stargazing in August. Here's what's on while you're here.
