What's on in Begur
Begur is a hill town set back from the wildest part of the Costa Brava, a castle ruin on the summit above it and a scatter of beautiful small coves — Aiguafreda, Sa Riera, Aiguablava — down the rocky coast below. The town has a distinctive "Indiano" history, built up by returning emigrants from Cuba, which shows in its grand colonial-style houses.
Sant Joan's midsummer night and the Sant Pere main festival are the big fixtures, joined in summer by flamenco under the stars and the long-running S'Eixugador open-water swim at Aiguafreda. Here's what's on while you're here.
