Sant Pere Main Festival
Begur's biggest annual fiesta, four days of concerts, street parties, traditional events and family activities celebrating the town's patron saint. Plenty for visitors to enjoy without speaking Spanish.
Begur shuts up shop and gives itself over to Sant Pere for four days at the end of June. Things kick off on the Friday with the pregó at the town hall, after which a cercavila procession marches everyone up to the Parc de l'Arbreda, where a funfair runs right through to the Monday. The cobla band La Selvatana provides the soundtrack on the saint's day itself: a sung mass in the church, three sardanes in the Plaça de la Vila with anyone welcome to join the circle, a festa-major concert and an evening ball in Plaça Esteva i Cruañas.
The night to watch for is La Nit del Foc on the Friday, a correfoc with the Ducs del Foc running sparks through the crowd, followed by a DJ into the small hours. Fill up beforehand on a botifarra roll and a drink for a fiver at the Guingueta. There's a giant water slide for the kids on the Sunday too. Most of it is free.
