What's on in Benicarló
Benicarló is a working fishing town on the northern Costa del Azahar, with a busy trawler harbour, a daily fish auction and a name made by its prized artichokes, which have their own protected designation and a winter festival. It's an everyday Valencian town rather than a resort — a seafront promenade, a few coves, a fleet coming and going — close to the bigger-name Peñíscola just up the coast but far less touristy.
Its cultural side comes through here in the Mira'm inclusive arts showcase and a staging of Lorca's Doña Rosita the Spinster at the theatre. Here's what's on while you're here.
