What's on in Busot

Busot is a small inland village in the hills behind Alicante, best known for what lies beneath it: the Coves del Canelobre, one of the tallest cave chambers in Spain, where stalactites rise like organ pipes and concerts are sometimes held in the natural acoustics. Above ground it's a quiet, old-fashioned pueblo of narrow streets and a hilltop church, with the sea visible in the distance and the mountains close at hand. It's a world away from the coastal resorts a short drive below.

The village's calendar is small and local: the San Lorenzo patron saint festival in August, the atmospheric Night of the Candles and Music, and an annual mountain-bike ride out to the famous caves. Here's what's on while you're here.
