What's on in el Castell de Guadalest

El Castell de Guadalest is a dramatic mountain village in the hills behind Benidorm, perched on a crag and reached through a tunnel cut in the rock, with a castle and bell tower clinging above a turquoise reservoir. One of the most-visited villages in Spain, it's tiny — barely two hundred residents — and busy with day-trippers and its many small museums, but the setting in the Sierra de Aitana is genuinely spectacular and the valley below is fine walking country.

Among its events are La Noche Romántica, an evening of music and light shared by Spain's prettiest villages, and a painting exhibition pairing Candy López's 'Pigmentos' with Nati Pamies. Here's what's on while you're here.
