What's on in Es Mercadal

Es Mercadal sits right in the middle of Menorca, at the foot of Monte Toro — the island's highest point, crowned by a hilltop sanctuary with views across the whole island. It's a quiet inland town away from the resorts, known for its bakeries and as the gateway to the wilder north coast.

The fiestas keep the old Menorcan traditions. Sant Martí, the patron saint fiesta, is the big one, with horses dancing through crowded streets in the island's distinctive jaleo style, while the Menorquina horse fair celebrates the local breed in earnest.
