What's on in Gata de Gorgos

Gata de Gorgos is an inland Marina Alta village a few miles back from Dénia and Xàbia, long known for its wickerwork and cane-weaving trade — you'll still see baskets and furniture made from local cane in the workshops along the main street. It's an ordinary working Valencian town rather than a tourist stop, which is rather the point.

Its calendar is small and genuinely local. The patron saint fiestas honour the Santíssim Crist del Calvari, the Font del Riu Sant Joan bonfire fiesta marks midsummer, and the Fira Gata al Carrer fills the streets with food and trade stalls.
