What's on in Guardamar del Segura
Guardamar del Segura sits at the mouth of the River Segura on the southern Costa Blanca, where a low castle hill looks over the town. Its defining feature is the great belt of pine forest planted over a century ago to hold back the dunes — miles of shaded woodland backing onto long, open Blue Flag beaches. It's a calmer, more Spanish-feeling resort than the high-rise towns to the north.
Midsummer is the highlight, with the Saint John's Eve bonfires down on the sand. Through the season the castle hosts the Estival al Castell concert series, including a Swing night from the Camerata Antigua, and the Memory of Sand guided tour digs into the town's buried history. Here's what's on while you're here.
