What's on in Málaga

Málaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol and the city most people fly into, but it rewards stopping rather than just passing through. It's a real Andalusian city — a Moorish Alcazaba above the centre, Picasso's birthplace, a clutch of good museums and a tapas-and-wine culture that runs late — with a working port and city beaches a short walk from the cathedral.

The big one is the Feria de Málaga in August, a week of daytime flamenco in the streets and a fairground out of town by night. Around it come Málaga Pride, the San Juan bonfires on the beach and an international athletics meeting. Here's what's on while you're here.
