What's on in Nerja

Nerja sits at the eastern end of the Costa del Sol where the coast turns wilder and the mountains crowd close to the sea. It's a proper old town of narrow streets that open onto the Balcón de Europa, a palm-lined balustrade jutting out over the water, with a string of small coves below. Less built-up than the resorts to the west, it has kept its Andalusian character and its famous caves just up the road.

Summer brings the Feria de Nerja, the Virgen del Carmen maritime procession and San Juan bonfires down on the beach, while the Festival Cueva de Nerja stages concerts inside the great cavern itself. Here's what's on while you're here.
