What's on in Orihuela
Orihuela has two faces: the historic inland city, a handsome old place of churches, palaces and a cathedral beneath a castle-topped hill, and Orihuela Costa down on the sea, a sprawl of modern resorts and beaches. The poet Miguel Hernández was born here, and the old town wears its layered Moorish and Baroque past with real character.
The events lean cultural and seasonal. The 'Colour is Emotion' exhibition pairs the painters Gabriel Morilla and Simon Gea, while the Summer Routes & Experiences programme opens up the city's history, and the Summer Solstice Light Phenomenon Route catches a particular play of light in the old buildings. Here's what's on while you're here.
