What's on in Pineda de Mar
Pineda de Mar is a workaday town on the Maresme coast north of Barcelona, with a long beach and the rail line from the city running right along the seafront — handy for day trips into Barcelona. It's a real Catalan town with a Roman past (a stretch of Roman aqueduct still stands) rather than a purpose-built resort, busy with locals as much as visitors in summer.
Its festa calendar is the heart of things. There's the big Festa Major in the heat of summer, the smaller Festa Major Petita around Sant Joan, and a separate neighbourhood festa in Poblenou, while the Mar d'Estiu music festival adds open-air concerts by the sea. Here's what's on while you're here.
