Poblenou Neighbourhood Festival (Festa Major de Poblenou)
The Poblenou district holds its own neighbourhood festa over a July weekend, with a town crier's opening, parades, communal dinners, an afternoon dance, open-air concerts and children's activities. A small, authentic local fiesta that's easy for visitors to drop into.
Most of Pineda de Mar's visitors never make it over to Poblenou, which is rather the point. Each July this corner of town throws its own festa, and it starts the way these things should: a town crier kicks proceedings off, then parades wind through the streets while families set out long tables for communal dinners. Nobody's putting on a show for tourists here.
The afternoon dance pulls in the older crowd, the open-air concerts run later into the evening, and there are activities laid on to keep the children busy. It's free, it's small, and you can simply turn up and find a spot. Wander over, grab a drink, and let the neighbourhood do its thing around you. A good evening if you'd rather see a Catalan town being itself than queue for the usual sights.
