What's on in Polop

Polop is a small hill town in the Marina Baixa, just inland from Benidorm and Altea, gathered beneath a castle-topped crag with the mountains of the Costa Blanca interior rising behind. Its best-known sight is the fountain of 221 spouts in the centre, and the views from the old cemetery on the hill are quietly famous. It's a calm, traditional counterpoint to the coast below.

The town's headline fiesta is the Festes del Porrat, its patron saint celebration. For something gentler, the Water Route guided walk takes in the castle and the town's links to its springs, while the Nit de Vins is an evening built around local wine. Here's what's on while you're here.
