What's on in Sitges

Sitges sits on the coast just south of Barcelona, an old fishing and wine town turned seaside resort with a long, open-minded streak. The seafront is lined with grand modernista villas, the church of Sant Bartomeu rises on a rocky point above the beaches, and the old quarter runs down to a row of restaurants and bars. It has long drawn artists and a lively LGBT crowd, and wears that history easily — busy in season, but never losing its small-town core.

The Festa Major de Sitges is the big one, with fireworks and processions for the town's patron saints, while Sant Joan brings midsummer celebrations to the Poble Sec neighbourhood. Through summer the Terramar Gardens Festival and midnight concerts at the port keep the music going late. Here's what's on while you're here.
