Solo Flamenco with the Neira & Santamaría Dance Company
An open-air evening of Spanish dance and flamenco performed by the Neira & Santamaría company in the village square. A visual, music-led show that needs no Spanish to enjoy.
Finestrat puts on a stretch of summer culture nights, and this is one of the better ones: the Neira & Santamaría company bringing Spanish dance and flamenco to the open square in the old village. It starts late, around 10pm, once the heat has dropped, which is exactly when these things come alive.
You don't need a word of Spanish. It's all in the footwork, the guitar, the snap of the rhythm and the held tension between dancers. Bring a bit of patience for the slow openings, because flamenco builds rather than launches, and the pay-off lands once it gets going. Free to watch, so turn up early if you want a decent spot, or stand at the back with a drink from a nearby bar and let it carry across the stones.
