XV Tapa Route (Ruta de la Tapa)
A two-day town-wide tapa crawl where around 25 bars and restaurants each serve a special tapa with a drink for EUR 3.50. Collect stamps on your voting card, sample at least six, and you enter a draw for free meals while voting for the best tapa. NOTE: the 2026 edition ran 18-19 April; this annual food event typically returns each spring - check for the next edition.
Pick up a ballot card from any of the roughly 25 taking part, or from the town hall, and Los Montesinos turns into one big, easygoing pub crawl with food. Each bar puts out one special tapa, paired with a drink, for EUR 3.50 — some sticking to old favourites, others getting inventive to win your vote. Get it stamped, move on, repeat.
Sample at least six different ones and you can mark your favourite and drop your card into the draw for a couple of free meals at local restaurants. Most places run from late morning until around 11pm, so there's no rush. The winning tapa earns its cook proper bragging rights for the year. It runs over two days each spring; the 2026 edition was in April, so check ahead for the next dates before you set off.
