Calcoval - Colera Carnival & Calcotada
Colera's carnival day combining a calcotada-season feel with a batucada percussion parade at 12.30pm, a ticketed communal lunch at 2pm and a DJ night party from 11pm. The 2026 edition has passed; the carnival returns in late February 2027.
This is Colera's own twist on carnival, and it leans hard into late-February tradition. The afternoon centres on a calçotada: long, sweet spring onions charred black over the coals, peeled at the table and dunked in romesco, usually with a bib on and your fingers wrecked. The communal lunch at the Sala Polivalent is ticketed and tends to sell out, so it's worth sorting in advance if you fancy a seat.
Before the food, a batucada parade sets off through the village at half twelve, all big drums and costumes, looping back to the hall. Then it goes quiet for a few hours until the late party kicks off in Plaça Pi i Margall, where a DJ keeps things going well past midnight. It's small, properly local, and not put on for visitors, which is rather the point. The 2026 day has passed; expect it back in late February 2027.
