Mescla - Gastronomic Capital Festival
Mescla turns Deltebre's riverside park into the gastronomic capital of the Ebro Delta with around 56 food stalls, cooking demos and Michelin-starred chefs over one May weekend. The 2026 edition (22-24 May) has passed; the festival returns annually, with a popular boat-dining add-on, Mescla a Bord, that sells out fast.
Deltebre sits right out on the Ebro Delta, where the river meets the sea, so it's no surprise the local food leans hard on rice and seafood. Mescla takes over the riverside park each May with around 56 stalls, and you buy tasting vouchers to graze your way through plates of regional cooking, washed down with Terra Alta wines. It's grown enormously: tastings sold jumped from 10,000 a few years back to well over 100,000.
The draw, beyond eating, is the showcooking. Around 22 demos run across the weekend, including a handful of Michelin-starred chefs working alongside local cooks. There are concerts, contests and things for children to do too. The standout add-on is Mescla a Bord, dinner with live performances out on a boat. Sessions routinely sell out before the festival opens, so book ahead if you want one.
